Pine Pixies Pre-School lowers the admission age

Pine Pixies Pre-School lowers the admission age

Pine Pixies Pre-School in Formby has delivered excellent childcare to parents for almost seventeen years from two to five years. From 1st March 2018 they are lowering the age of children accepted to one year old.

Catherine Regan, Owner and Registered Person said,

" Childcare has changed a lot since I started almost seventeen years ago. We need to change what we are offering and that means giving younger children the chance to enjoy what a small setting like ours can offer. Our ratios are higher than most school nurseries and we can offer shorter session times than some full day nurseries.

For parents who do not want to book a child into a full day nursery from 7am to 6pm we can offer shorter times of mornings, afternoons or a 9am to 3pm session. This is a very exciting time for us as we change our setting to include more toddlers, whilst still catering for the needs of 2, 3 and 4 year olds. Children and families now will be given the chance to stay with us from an earlier age and see how their child progresses. We are not just a pre-school we are an extension of their family."

Come and view our setting and speak to our wonderful staff, who are all fully qualified and First Aid trained. Our setting is Ofsted registered and you will find our latest inspection report here:

https://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/inspection-reports/find-inspection-report/provider/CARE/EY233820

Don't just take our word for it, see what our parents say:

“Pine Pixies is such a lovely environment for young inquisitive, active minds, it is also a very professional and a warm place for toddlers to make the transition from home to school. All the staff are so lovely and kind and I feel like they really care. My boys have enjoyed their time here.”

“We chose Pine Pixies for PreSchool due to a positive experience with her elder sibling. We have always found Pine Pixies a friendly and caring environment. The staff are Pine Pixies finest asset encouraging, supporting and providing a stimulating learning experience for the children.”

“The Pine Pixies staff have welcomed us into their pre-school with open arms, wide smiles and total professionalism. Our son loves ‘his ladies’ and always has a fantastic time. The days/hours are very flexible and any concerns are dealt with immediately.”

“Nursery teachers are so caring and very attentive to the needs of each individual child. I love the informal play and child-led aspect of learning. I wish this style could continue throughout early years teaching.”

“A lovely setting with lots on offer and friendly caring staff.”

All this in a safe and very caring environment. We have an outside area where they can run and explore, learn to climb and balance.

Babysitting Agency launching soon

Do you need an added extra income?
Do you need a regular babysitter?

The Professional Babysitting Agency requires more sitters to join their team.

Each sitter requires a qualification in childcare (level 2 or above) / teaching or nursing qualification for working with children, maybe you are a childminder or nanny.

You will also require a current Paediatric First Aid certificate, portable DBS and be willing to undertake insurance for your work.

Once this is in place you can be in control of how often you work and the money you earn is yours to keep.

Parents need a good reliable person to call upon when they need their children looking after. Not every family can call upon relatives as some live too far away to help.

It would be nice to be able to join that gym, attend that social event or go to that special meeting and know that a trusted professional was looking after your child, a professional who will take the time to get to know your child and give him/her the level of professional support they need when you are not at home.

That person can be an extension to your family network and help when you need them most.

All sitters will go through the vetting procedures of a DBS check, ID check, qualification check and at least two references to ensure they are suitable. All sitters will be strongly recommended to take out insurance to cover them whilst sitting. All sitters will be personally interviewed and their DBS checked every six months thereafter.

If you are a professional working with children, then contact us now for an application form to start the vetting procedure and earn yourself some added income.

Or if a parent, then take the worry and stress out of finding a sitter and join our agency soon to be launched. Membership fees are only taken when the first booking is required.

Is your current trusted babysitter insured - is he/she trained to deal with emergencies - how precious is your child's safely to you?

Join now for total peace of mind.

Please contact us today to find out about our highly competitive prices.

Robert Goodwill (the man who would not listen to desperate UK childcare providers) sacked

Minister of State for Children and Families, Robert Goodwill has been sacked from his government position after only seven months in the job.

He leaves behind total and utter devastation, as many nurseries have been forced to close their doors for good while their campaigning for better funding from the Conservative government have fallen on deaf ears.

https://www.otsnews.co.uk/uk-government-set-destroy-childcare-sector/

Childcare professionals around the country are hoping that this opens a doorway into finally being heard and having the funding issues properly addressed and turned around.

PM Theresa May MUST realise the massive mistakes made by her government. Now is her chance to begin to rectify the mess her government has made since bringing in the 30 hours free funding and putting such restrictions on providers in the contracts councils make all providers adhere to.

So what exactly is the problem?

It mainly comes down to funding levels being too low. Many providers' rates per hour are £6 plus, but the Government rates actually paid to providers will start at £3.65 being the lowest in some parts of the country to £6.40 the highest in other parts.

The majority of rates are approximately £4/hour. From this funding providers are not allowed to pay for meals, snack, nappies and other items, so this charge will have to be met by either the parent or the provider's personal money.

The Government is saying that providers can ask parents for a 'voluntary contribution' for items, what they really mean is that parents are to be asked to make up for the underpayment by the government and if they say no, the provider has to find it out of their own pockets.  The words 'Free Funding' may appear to be highly attractive but it does not meet the needs and is highly ambiguous. The funding levels are so low that many owners of theses businesses cannot even pay themselves a wage most of the time.

The funding levels will not be sustainable for many and a lot of providers have already closed their doors for good. We are losing Ofsted - rated 'Outstanding' providers who have been in the business for over thirty years. This is because the Government has clearly not analysed the inherent problems involved, regarding their 'free funding' proposals and put together a workable project fit for purpose.

So for £4 /hour which is frozen now until 2020, what are providers expected to offer? High quality childcare and resources, highly trained staff, wages which rise each year, pensions, staff holiday pay, rent, business rates, food, consumables ie nappies etc, staff meetings, meetings with other professionals to support parents and families and business advertising amongst many other things.

Robert Goodwill refused to listen to the problems, hopefully his successor will.

The campaign continues.

Pine Pixies Pre-School Yuletide fun

Pine Pixies Pre-School in Formby recently held their Christmas party and who better as the secret visitor but Santa himself.

Parents, children and staff joined together in singing a few Xmas melodies before Santa joined them to present gifts to each child.

The children had earlier had a party with dancing and party food. After a play in the garden with bubbles and a hunt the santa game, it was time for a story on the carpet, then for parents to arrive.

A raffle was held which thanks to kind parents made a profit of £30 which we have used to buy a new craft tablecloth and a new kitchen trolley. Thanks to all involved, including those who donated gifts.

A VERY big thank you goes to our Santa who never forgets to visit us each Xmas party day. He is our hero!

A thank you also goes to our wonderful, caring staff team and our student, 'some of whom' we managed to photograph with Santa.

We currently have spaces available from January, please contact us for information.
